SaaS

Software-As-A-Service is a relatively new and evolving approach to software delivery and usage.  The core concept is that a software application is delivered as a service over the Internet.  Customers (aka subscribers) are charged on a monthly basis.  The software is available from the vendor's WEB site and the vendor is responsible for all operational aspects.

This approach has been evolving for several years, and is now a well established and superior approach for many software applications.  SaaS applications are in use by small and large business alike.  The benefits include lower initial investments, rapid deployment, elimination of software upgrades, and continuous innovation and enhancements.
